There is no denying that ping-pong is an all-round enjoyable and addictive experience, but Julien Vallée & Eve Duhamel of Vallée Duhamel decided they could make it better. The customized table changes the layout, rules, and even the paddles as part of the exhibition “On! Handcrafted Digital Playground” at the Contemporary Art Center of Cincinnati.
“Smash Pong,” as the game is known, requires players to use their paddle for more than just hitting a ball back and forth. Each player has to try and hit wooden pieces of varying shapes and sizes scattered around the table to gain points. The installation also includes a scoreboard and custom paddles.
If the game sounds like something you would like to own, you can get in touch with the designers directly. Seeing as there is no price on the website, it’s likely that the one-of-a-kind game won’t come cheap.
