Do yourself a favor and watch this history of videogame samples in rap music

At Kill Screen, our ties to hip-hop run deep. Former KS intern Drew Millard is the genius-level head behind Rap Industry Fan Fiction. Wu-Block is currently blowing out the speakers of our MacBook Air. This is why we are so overjoye to see that Spin has done a commendable public service and compiled a history of video game samples in rap music.

Now, there are alot of gems in the preceeding (who, for example, knew how many rap producers love Chrono Trigger, and is there a less likely pairing than Fat Joe and an MMO about World War II naval battles?), but one takes the cake. That would be the use of the trilling synthesizers by Swizz Beats in "Money Cash Hoes", which is just bizarre and wonderful.
